Market route
Nobody in India has heard of you, which is a clean start
Unlike Korean or Japanese beauty, a Vietnamese skincare brand arrives with no category awareness and no grey market. Everything has to be built and nothing has to be corrected.

What an unknown beauty brand faces in India
Specific, and mostly solvable with sequencing rather than budget.
- Registration determines the launch date. Not your marketing readiness. Imported cosmetics require registration before import, and every additional variant adds to the filing.
- Awareness is zero and has to be earned. There is no cultural tailwind. Creator credibility and reviews do the work that brand recognition does for Korean brands.
- Indian conditions are a real product question. Texture and finish designed for Vietnam may read very differently in Indian heat. Your formulators know the answer. What I add is which of it is worth leading the marketing with.
- The ingredient story needs a local frame. Indian consumers have a deep and sophisticated relationship with traditional and ingredient-led formulation, and a new brand needs a position relative to that.
- Price sits in a crowded band. Between capable Indian brands with lower costs and Korean brands with awareness, so the position has to be argued rather than assumed.
What gets built
Sequenced so the commercial build runs in parallel with registration rather than after it.
An India brand platform
The proposition for an Indian buyer who has never heard of Vietnam as a skincare origin.
A view on what leads
Which two or three products should carry the brand in India. Your team knows the range far better than I will; what I bring is a view on which of it argues best here.
Identity and packaging adaptation
Where naming, claims or pack format need it. Brand guidelines.
A plan that works around your clearance date
Your regulatory consultant owns the filing and tells us the date. Everything else gets built to be ready for it. I do not handle registration and it is not something I advise on.
Channel sequence and listings
Specialist beauty platform and marketplace first. E-commerce and D2C.
Creator programme
Fit over reach. A credible skincare creator outperforms a large lifestyle account for an efficacy-led proposition.
Review strategy
Designed within platform rules, because for an unknown brand this is the growth engine.
What transfers from Vietnam and what does not
Brand, positioning and visual identity transfer and should be identical.
The ingredient story, the climate argument, the skin-concern framing, the price position and the review base are all Indian and all built from scratch.
A translated Vietnamese site will underperform in India for reasons that have nothing to do with translation quality.
Questions overseas teams ask
How long does cosmetic registration take?
Ask your regulatory consultant, not me. I have seen it run from a few months to considerably longer and I would be guessing. What I need from you is their date, early, so the marketing is not sitting finished and waiting.
Do you handle the registration?
No. That is a regulatory consultant's job and it carries liability I am not insured for. Give me their expected date and I will build the launch to meet it.
Should we adapt formulations for India?
That is a question for your formulators and your regulatory consultant, and both will give you a better answer than I would. My contribution is on the other side: whatever you launch with, making the case for it to an Indian buyer.
Marketplace or our own site first?
Marketplace and specialist platform first, almost always. Own site once there is a customer base to convert rather than an audience to buy.
Which three products would you launch with?
That choice decides the registration cost, the timeline and most of the positioning. Tell me the range and I will tell you which travel.
