Registration decides your date, creators decide your growth

Beauty entry into an unfamiliar market runs on two clocks. The regulatory one you cannot compress, and the credibility one you can start immediately.

What makes beauty entry different

Consistent whether the origin is Korea, Japan, Vietnam or Europe.

  1. Registration determines the launch date. Not marketing readiness, and every additional variant adds to the filing cost and time.
  2. Formulation may not travel. Texture, finish, sun-care format and shade range designed for one climate and skin-type distribution may fail in another.
  3. Claims are regulated and checked. What you say at home may not be permissible or credible elsewhere, and a claim that fails is worse than one not made.
  4. Discovery runs through creators. Fit over reach. A dermatologist or serious skincare creator outperforms a large lifestyle account for an efficacy proposition.
  5. Local ingredient traditions matter. Many markets have sophisticated existing relationships with traditional formulation, and a new brand needs a position relative to that rather than against it.

What gets built

Sequenced so the commercial build runs alongside registration rather than after it.

01

A market brand platform

Including the position relative to local ingredient traditions and existing category awareness.

02

A view on what leads

Which two or three products front the launch and what each one argues. Your product and regulatory people own the range decision; I am useful on which of it persuades.

03

Claims discipline

Every claim with evidence and an owner, checked against what is permissible in the market.

04

A plan built around your clearance date

Your regulatory consultant owns the filing and gives us the date. I build backwards from it so the marketing is finished before clearance lands rather than after. I do not touch registration.

05

Channel sequence

Specialist beauty platform and marketplace first, D2C second. E-commerce and D2C.

06

Creator programme

Selected on category credibility, with a brief that survives your approval process.

The growth engine for an unfamiliar brand, designed within platform rules.

The ledger that keeps claims defensible

Efficacy, ingredient and environmental claims in beauty are the most scrutinised in any category I work in.

Claim, evidence, owner. It looks bureaucratic and it is what allows marketing to move quickly, because the approval question has already been answered.

It also protects the creator programme, where an unapproved claim repeated by a creator is the most common way brands get into trouble.

Less dramatic than what marketing wanted to say. It survives a customer audit, which the dramatic version does not.

Questions overseas teams ask

Do you handle cosmetic registration?

No, and I would steer you away from anyone who offers both. Regulatory filing is a specialist trade with real liability attached. Your regulatory consultant gives me a date and I build the plan to hit it. That is the whole of my involvement.

How many products should we launch with?

Fewer than you want to. A crowded launch confuses the shelf and dilutes the argument. Which ones is a conversation between us; how many your filing can carry is one for your regulatory consultant.

Marketplace or D2C first?

Marketplace and specialist platform first, almost always. D2C once there is a base to convert rather than an audience to buy.

How do we choose creators?

Category credibility over follower count, with a written brief on what may and may not be claimed, and a long relationship rather than a one-off post.

Which three SKUs would you launch with?

That choice decides the registration cost, the timeline and most of the positioning. It is worth twenty minutes before anything is filed.
