Market route

Indian buyers do not know where Taiwan sits, so tell them

Above you sit Japanese and German incumbents on brand. Below sit Chinese suppliers on price. The Taiwanese position in the middle is genuinely defensible and completely invisible unless somebody argues it.

What Indian buyers actually need to be told

None of it is assumed and all of it is provable.

  1. Where you sit against the alternatives. Better engineering than the cheapest option, better responsiveness than the premium incumbent, with certification a serious buyer can rely on. Stated, with evidence.
  2. What your quality system actually controls. Indian OEMs and their auditors want scope, method and frequency rather than a certificate logo.
  3. How fast you respond. Sample lead time and technical query response are competitive weapons in India and almost nobody states them.
  4. Who supports the product here. Indian buyers ask what happens when it fails before they ask the price, and an unclear answer ends the conversation.
  5. Why you are not the cheap option. If you do not make that argument, price becomes the only comparison available.

What gets built

Sequenced so the website and material exist before any demand spend.

01

Positioning for the Indian competitive set

Against Chinese imports and Indian domestic manufacturers rather than against your home comparison. Positioning.

02

A capability document

Machines, tolerances, inspection, certification scope, materials, batch sizes. One maintained source for vendor registration and tenders.

03

An India-facing website

Built to be verified rather than to impress. Website design and build.

04

Technical content

Application notes and selection guides from your own engineers, which is where Indian search visibility comes from. Content.

05

Partner search

Distributor, integrator or reseller depending on how your category actually gets specified. channel communication.

06

Exhibition programme

Indian industrial fairs, run properly. Exhibitions.

What an Indian buyer checks first

In this order, in a few minutes, before anyone at your company knows they exist.

The fifth row is where most Taiwanese exporter sites fail. A contact form reaching a general inbox tells an Indian engineer nobody who understands the product will reply.

None of this is expensive. The constraint is time from your production and quality people, which is the thing to budget for.

Questions overseas teams ask

Do we need an Indian office?

Not initially in most categories. Export through a qualified distributor or integrator is the standard first step, and an entity becomes worth considering when direct OEM relationships or service obligations make it necessary.

How do we compete with Chinese suppliers on price?

Generally you do not. The defensible positions are consistency where failure is expensive, documentation where the buyer's own customers demand it, engineering support and lead-time reliability. Establishing which of those your target segments pay for is the work.

Are Indian trade shows worth it?

For channel and tier-two development, yes. For reaching design engineers, technical content and named account programmes generally do better. The return on a stand is decided by the invitation and the follow up.

How quickly can we start?

Two to three weeks. Taiwanese clients tend to move fast and that works, with one caution: the positioning step at the start is the one most often compressed and the one that most determines the rest.
